1. Introduction

MythicQuill Publishing ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data when you use our Platform at mythicquill.org.

By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and an encrypted password. Authors additionally provide a display name, biography, and optionally social media links.

Purchase information: When you buy a product, Stripe processes your payment. We receive a transaction record including the amount, currency, and last four digits of your card. We do not store full card numbers.

Usage data: We may collect information about how you interact with the Platform, including pages visited, books opened, download counts, and reading progress you choose to save.

Communications: If you subscribe to an author's newsletter, we store your email address and subscription status. If you contact us, we retain your correspondence.

Cookies: We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You may disable cookies in your browser, but some features will not function correctly.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Platform and your account
• To process and fulfil purchases, including delivering digital files
• To send transactional emails (receipts, order confirmations, password resets)
• To send newsletter emails only if you have opted in and confirmed your subscription
• To improve and analyse Platform performance and usage patterns
• To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties and do not use it for targeted advertising.

4. Sharing of Information

We share your data only in limited circumstances:

• Stripe — payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
• Amazon SES — transactional email delivery.
• Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or government authority.
• Business transfer — in a merger or acquisition, subject to the same protections.

5. Data Retention

Account data is kept while your account is active. Purchase records are retained for at least seven years for financial compliance. Newsletter opt-out records are kept indefinitely to honour your choice. You may request full deletion of your account at any time (see Section 7).

6. Security

We use HTTPS/TLS for all data in transit, bcrypt for password hashing, and strict access controls. No system is completely secure; we investigate any suspected breaches promptly and notify affected users as required by law.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information via account settings
• Delete your account and associated data (excluding legal records)
• Export your purchase and reading history
• Unsubscribe from newsletters at any time via the email link

8. Children

The Platform is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Some published content is designed for child readers, but account creation and purchases are performed by adults.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. We will notify registered users by email of material changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
